How do Thera Tears eye drops work?

Dry eye syndrome is a multifactorial disease resulting in dehydration of corneal surface due to excessive loss of water from tear film leading to concentration of minerals in form of salts on the eye surface leading to hyper osmotic medium which is completely unfavorable to the eye and leads to the manifestations of dry eye.

What is the composition of Thera Tears Lubricant Eye Drops?

Active Ingredients

Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (0.25%).

Inactive Ingredients

Sodium Chloride, Calcium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Phosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Borate Buffer, Magnesium Chloride and Purified Water for injection.

Preservatives

Single use eye drops are preservative free but Theratears in bottle has a patent preservative which turns into water and oxygen on contact with eye surface.

 

What are the indications for using Thera Tears Lubricant Eye Drops?

1. Provide relief for severe dry eye symptoms due to dryness of the eye regardless of the cause of dry eye (computer usage, exposure to sun, aging…etc.).

2. Provide prophylaxis against exposure to occupational or environmental irritants.

3. Post Refractive surgeries such as after lasik eye surgery. Dry Eyes consider as one of the common Lasik Complications.

 

 

What are the contraindications ?

Patients suffering from hypersensitivity reaction to any of the ingredients of the product. The side effects will be due to hypersensitivity reaction to any of the ingredients of the product including:

1. Severe burning sensation or irritation to the eye.

2. Swelling in the eyelid, face, lips, or the tongues.

3. Blurred vision.

4. Difficulties of breathing and shock.

If you notice any of these side effects, stop the medication and call your eye doctor or visit the emergency room as soon as possible

 

 

Is it safe to use Thera Tears for Pregnant or lactating females?

It is still unknown whether this eye drop is safe in pregnant or lactating females or not.

How should I use Thera Tears Lubricant Eye Drops?

You should instill one drop (or as prescribed by the doctor) in the eye, then press your finger against the inner corner of the eye for one minute to prevent the drug from being drained to the blood system through tears duct.
