Pigmentary Dispersion Glaucoma
It typically occurs in young, middle age patient with myopia. There is abnormal contact between the back of the iris and the lens which will lead to continuous shedding of pigments from the iris and deposition of iris pigments all over the anterior segment, causing blockage of trabecular meshwork and high intraocular pressure
This type of glaucoma is usually like POAG and come in chronic form but some times there are triggers like physical activity that will cause sudden increase in pigmentation with high I.O.P. In this form it will be like closure angle glaucoma. Read more about Pigmentary Dispersion Syndrome
Pseudoexfoliation Glaucoma
Pseudoexfoliation occurs in old age and it affects female more than male. It is a form of open angle glaucoma. There is whitish fibrillar materials that build up on anterior part of the lens and related structures like iris, zonules and on the angle.
The origin of these materials is unknown and the continuous shedding of them will accumulate in the angle and block the drainage of aqueous through trabecular meshwork leading to high I.O.P. Trauma-related Glaucoma
Blunt trauma, penetrating trauma and chemical burn of the eye can lead to the development of glaucoma by disrupting the angle of the eye.
