Ocular History for Lasik Eye Surgery

Ocular History for Lasik Eye Surgery is a very important step in pre lasik surgery evaluation.Your doctor will ask you about your ocular diseases and corneal infections, what eye drops you are on, any previous ocular surgeries and if you use glasses or contact lenses.

Hard contact lenses wearer should discontinue them for 3 weeks while soft contact lenses for 1 week.

Repeated topography of the cornea should be done to insure that the corneal curvature is stable, if stability does not present we should wait till it happen.

Patient with glaucoma should know that during lasik procedure the IOP or intra-ocular pressure will increase which might cause further damage to optic nerve also after surgery your doctor will prescribe steroid eye drops to decrease post surgery inflammation which can cause increase in intra-ocular pressure.

After lasik with corneal ablation, the cornea will become thinner than before in which this will lead to false IOP readings in which it will give low readings.
