Question

Hi,

I've been wearing contacts for about 4 yrs. now, and lately within an hour of putting my contacts in they will make my eyes really itchy and irritated.

Am I allergic to my solutions?

I've used pretty much the same kinds the whole time I've worn contacts. Or could it be something else?

Thanks

Thanks for your Question

The most common cause for your condition is dryness. Contact lens can cause severe corneal dryness especially for those people who wear them for a long time.

Use preservative free artificial tears such as Optive eye drops, refresh tears and artelac advance while you are off contact lenses.

When you are wearing your contact lenses use special artifical tears or lubricating rewetting drops that can be used with contact lenses such as systane contacts. There are types of Contact lenses that can be used by people who suffer from dryness.

Another possible cause is allergy to contact lenses. In this case you can try to use another brand of lens

In case you didn't feel any improvement from the above measurements, you have an option of refractive surgery.
