Tried many types for dry eyes
Eyeglasses for short-sight
Question
Hi,
When I wash my eyes with an eye-bath of sterile water, my eyes are left bloodshot.
My eyes feel hot, sore, irritated all day every day.
When my eyeballs are at their most uncomfortable (every day they are uncomfortable, but some days worse than others), the skin under my eyes becomes more wrinkled and tissue-paper like (although there is no flaking or cracking of skin).
There is NOT gunk/debris in eyes.
My eyeballs do NOT appear red (other than when using eye-bath).
My eye-lids do NOT appear swollen.
I have used over 20 types of eye-drops for dry eyes, including ones supplied by the hospital and most make no difference at all, with only a couple helping slightly. Because of this, I do NOT believe it is MGD (Meibomian Gland Dysfunction) , which was stated by the hospital.
Thanks
Answer
Thanks for your Question
First of all you shouldn't wash your eye globe with water. Even if water is sterile, it is irritated to the eye and you will have red congested eye with foreign body sensation.
Meibomian Gland Dysfunction or posterior blepharitis can be treated with hot compresses with eyelid massage and lid hygiene by washing the lid margin with baby johnson shampoo. Oral Omega 3 fatty acids can be very helpful for this condition.
Regarding Lubricant eye drops, you should use preservative free lubricant eye drops such as Artelac eye drops, Systane Eye Drops and Refresh tears eye drops.
