Question

Hi,

I am ordering contact lenses online and the ones that I want to try are Acuvue Oasys.

These contacts only come in 8.4 BC and 8.8 BC, my previous contacts came in 8.6 BC. Would going to 8.4 or 8.8 be okay? If so, which would be better?

Thanks

Answer

Thanks for your Question

Base curve of 8.8 can be large and large contact lens moves frequently with blinking which can cause blurred vision.

Base curve of 8.4 can be also small which can cause contact lens tight syndrome. Normally contact lens moves slightly with each blinking and this allows tears to pass under the lens to the cornea and deliver oxygen and other factors to the cornea. Small Lens can be too tight and reaches a point where it stops moving on the eye.

This can cause hypoxia to the cornea with corneal edema and several other complications. I would prefer to use large base curve.
