Question

Hi,

Can pred forte melt the real cornea that is around our recent prosthetic cornea implant? This is the fourth cornea transplant in my daughters only eye.

What other drop can we use instead if so?

She had two real cornea rejections and one prosthetic cornea melt

Thanks

Answer

Thanks for your Question

One of the complications of long term usage of Pred forte eye drops is corneal melting.

Corneal melting can be treated with amniotic membrane graft. This membrane has many growth factors that can inhibit melting of the cornea.
