Question

Hi,

I recently got my eyes checked after about a year and found out that my spherical power increased to -2.75(R) and -1.5(L).

I am very concerned about this as my doctor said that increase in the spherical power cannot be brought down. However, my cylindrical power did not increase within this one year. But, I have a high cylindrical power of -4 for both eyes.

My doctor also advised my not to put much stress on my eyes as this would lead to bad results. She also asked me to come after 6 months for a conical topography checkup and informed me that I have a weakness in my cornea which can be later corrected with a lasik surgery.

Could you please suggest few remedies to improve my vision and bring down my power?

Changes in the refractive power can occur. Most of the time refractive powers should be stabilized at age 19-22 years but in some people and for unknown reasons, stabilization can occur at late 20s.

Myopia with high cylinder can occur in patients with keratoconus and with corneal imaging (Pentacam) we can diagnose it.

Keratoconus should be treated, for more information about keratoconus, Click here.
