Question

Hi,

Ive had a flickering in the corner of my right eye for over a week now. Since the past two days im seeing intense small dark/grey spots all over my vision. I cant see through them.

Sometimes there will be this intense flickering flashing black spot in the other corner of my eye. Its very annoying to have and im worried it might affect the vision in my left eye. My right eye is a lazy eye, vision is very weak, upto -19. Eye doc says that retina in that eye is weak too and i should be on the lookout for additional floaters as it might be degeneration or retinal detachment.

I went to see the eye doc yesterday he says my eye is fine and there nothing to worry about. But this flickering won't stop and the spots won't go away. Its very hard to look at screens or do any work.

How can i make this flickering stop?

Thanks

Answer

Thanks for your Question

There is nothing you can do to stop this flashes of light. It should go by itself. It is caused by vitreous detachment from the retina.

You should do regular follow up with your eye doctor.

There is one option you can do to get rid of eye floaters in this eye, which is vitrectomy eye surgery. In this surgery, your eye doctor will remove all the vitreous from your eyes and this will help to eliminate floaters and also reduce flashes of light. You should discuss this option with your eye doctor.
