Question

Hi,

I'm a 20 year old female and I've just had a routine eye exam and my optometrist has told me that my optic nerve looks more cupped than normal.

Is this something that would have developed in the last 12 months since my last exam? Or do you think my previous optometrist didn't pick it up ?

Thanks for your help

Abnormal shape of optic disc could be normal. It doesn't mean that you have optic disc disease. If you have normal intraocular pressure and the shape of the optic disc is the same in both eyes then nothing to worry about.

I would prefer to visit an eye doctor who is specializes in glaucoma. He might run some imaging tests for your eyes just to be sure.
