Question

Hi,

For information only, are there any reported cases of fluoroquinolone neurologic toxicity from instillation of these medications into the eye?

Symptoms similar to the reported neuro toxicity listed in the "blackbox warning" for systemic use of this class of antibiotic.

Thanks

Answer

Thanks for your Question

The dose of eye drops that absorbed systemically to the blood is very low and rarely it can cause systemic complications such as neurlogical problems.

As far as i know. there is no reported  neurological toxicity cases related to fluoroquinolone eye drops.
