Question

Hi,

Yesterday I noticed stringy, smoky like black floaters in my right eye.  Last night there are also flashes of light in the peripheral field of that eye.

What I’ve read and what the assistant  at the optical shop told me confuse me as to whether I need to see a dr.

I had a complete eye exam 4 month ago.

Thanks

Answer

Thanks for your Question

Most of the cases of eye floaters are due to vitreous changes and no harm from it. But some cases can be due to retinal breaks or tears or vitreous hemorrhage.

I would recommend that you visit an eye doctor to examine your retina to be sure nothing is there.
