Question
Hi,
I have macular dystrophy on my left eye and recently I have been paranoid that I am getting it in my good eye. An Ophthalmologist did an eye dilated exam to check my good eye and found nothing.
Still I am worried. Central vision is ok no dark or distorted view. Can an eye diluted test miss MD or not?
And are always symptoms for macular degeneration distortion and loss of central vision please?
Thanks
Answer
Thanks for your Question
Macular dystrophy can be asymptomatic or comes with symptoms such as blurred vision, defects in clor vision, central scotoma and image distortion.
Clinical examination can be enough most of the time for the diagnosis of Macular dystrophy but sometimes investigations can be required for the diagnosis such as OCT, fluorescein angiograph and electroretinography.
