My left eye is irritated when wearing my contact lens

Just tear drops, but those didn't seem to help my case.

I have been wearing contacts for the last 7 year, until last year when my issue started. For the last 4 or 5 months I've been only wearing my Eyeglasses

So I have been wearing Air Optix contacts for at least 7 years and last year I noticed my left eye was kind having issues like it was a little itchy or dry (it almost felt like a hair was in my eye). It slowly got worse to the point where after a couple of months starting to feel that I couldn’t wear contacts.

So I went to my annual eye exam to renew my prescription and the doctor didn’t see anything wrong. So they prescribed me to Biofinity contacts to see if my eye would be more comfortable with that, but that didn’t work, so then I tried the 1-Day Acuvue. Those seem to do better, but my left eye is still having issues. Here’s how it feels:

My upper lid in the center is irritated (feels like it’s dry/itchy, like there’s a piece of hair stuck in my eye). The corner of my eye (closest to my nose) where my tear ducts are it feels the same way. When I go to take my contacts out, my eye becomes extremely itchy where my tear ducts are and it slowly goes away after a few hours. And it’s only the left eye, not the right eye. There isn’t really any redness or swelling, and my eye doesn’t water when it’s irritated either.

Sorry for the long explanation, but any help is greatly appreciated.

Contact lens can cause severe dry eyes. You should take off your contact lens for few days and use preservative free lubricant eye drops frequently every 2-3 hours. While wearing contact lens you can use wetting drops such as systane for contacts to keep your eye and contact lens wet. 

Another problem with contact lens called contact lens intolerance in which your eyes start to develop allergy to them. The most common Symptoms are itching, foreign body sensation, dryness and blurred vision.

Try to change your contact lens, change the solution, reduce the wearing time and use wetting eye drops. Avoid wearing contact lens for a period of time can also be helpful. Some people who had allergy or intolerance to contact lens can undergo refractive surgery.
