Hi,

My son Haseeb age 5 years has developed eye allergy type disease. It causes irritation and redness in both the eyes. I myself had this problem when I was 14-15 years of age and it lasted for many years. Now it is no more there.

This is called allergic conjunctivitis or vernal keratoconjunctivitis. You should use steroid eye drops for few days plus combined mast cell stabilizer with antihistamine eye drops monthly and lubrication eye drops.

Steroid eye drops such as tobradex eye drops can be used three times per day for 1 week and then twice daily for 1 week.

Combined mast cell stabilizer with antihistamine such as patanol eye drops can be used three times a day monthly.

Non preservative lubrication eye drops should be used also 3-4 times a day.
