Hello.

I have a symptomatic flashes of lights with horseshoe retinal tear, causeb by a trauma to the eye.

I have been to two vitreoretinal specialists. Both say its nothing urgent, since it down and not up. But, one of them says it can and should be treated with laser, another one says laser will not work, we should let it heal on its own, but if it progresses, go to surgery.

Its been 6 months now, so if it didn't heal by now, is there still a chance it will heal in the future?

How long it takes in average to heal, if it heals?

Once there is a horseshoe tear seen in the retina either in the upper part of the retina or lower part, it should be treated without any delay with laser Photocoagulation to seal it and prevent any fluid to pass through the tear to under the retina which can lead to retinal detachment. 

You have to go back to your eye doctor and ask him for laser treatment.

Horseshoe tear rarely healed by itself because part of it is attached by vitreous
