Eye drops for dry eye. and previously used an eye drop for red eyes (even though i do not frequently have red eyes. Just strain)

Hi,

I feel like i'm having dry eye and a detachment simultaneously. Every morning when i wake up, my eyes are extremely dry, but over the past month it's gotten way more severe, eye drops don't help either, and I've tried two types. (Eye drops that treat red eyes even though my eyes aren't ever really red, and types for artificial tears as well)

I do have extensive computer/phone/Television use. So i assume that is why my eyes are dry and has progressively gotten worse. On another hand, Almost a month ago as well, I have had an increase in flashes, black spots, and floaters.

When i look in my peripheral vision in both eyes, there is a moving black dot there in the corner, and i don't know what it means.

it is very opaque as well in my right eye. and sometimes i get tiny flashes of light in my left eye. These are some of the recent symptoms.

 

 

I am nearsighted and wear prescription glasses but I don't know whats happening. From what I've researched on my own, vitreous detachment or retinal detachments aren't supposed to have pain or discomfort, but my eyes are dry and i have flashes, floaters, and progressive problems with peripheral vision along with it.

I visited my eye doctor two weeks ago, and he didn't say anything about a retinal or vitreous detachment , even when i gave him my symptoms. 

I got a dilated exam, and he just prescribed me with new glasses, that i have now. so i would like some advice on what i should do now.

There is no correlation between dry eyes and eye floaters. Eye floater is common in people with nearsightedness and you already had a full eye examination and your doctor said there is no holes or tears or retinal detachment so there is nothing to worry about that.

During eye examination your eye doctor can't always see eye floaters or posterior vitreous detachment, so if he can't see them this doesn't mean that you don't have floaters.

So far There is no treatment for eye floaters. A new laser technique called YAG laser vitreolysis can be used to evaporate eye floaters but not all patient can do it and sometimes some of patients are not happy with the results

Regarding dry eye, try to use preservative free lubricant eye drops frequently for example 4-5 times a day. There is no need to use eye drops for red eye because these eye drops have preservative materials which can worsen cornea dryness.

One of the most common cause of dry eyes these days is extensive work on computer. Try to take some rest and also to blink frequently because with people who use computer blick less than often.
