Question

Hi,

I just went to the eye clinic at Augusta University Health to have my pink eye checked out. I have been using a prescribed ofloxacin ophthalmic solution, 4 times a day.

The doctor I saw diagnosed it as a viral conjunctivitis, and he told me to stop using the drops and to use artificial tears instead, just to soothe it.

I'm currently signed up to run a 5K early Saturday morning (Nov 2). I was wondering if it would be safe to run a cross country race with my eye in it's current condition.

Thanks

Answer

Thanks for your Question

You could still running if you have viral conjunctivitis as long as you don't have blurry vision and you can see clearly the way or the road.

Sometimes with viral conjunctivitis, you might have photophobia or light sensitivity from the sun so you might consider wearing tinted goggles.
