Question

Hi,

It has been more than a month that I experience localised redness, which gets noticeable suddenly for an hour or so and doesn't present any kind of pain or eye watering, sometime I do experience a gritty feeling.

The redness is only present in small section in the eye while the rest of the eye is white and it keeps going better and worse through out the day.

I have been for an eye test and the optometrist identified it as just dry eye but the redness is localized and I keep experiencing it with dry eye drops. The redness is very slight, and I don't experience any other symptoms other than gritty feeling sometimes, can it be episcleritis?

Thanks

Thanks for your Question

It might be episcleritis but usually it associated with pain. Most likely you have pterygium or pinguecula which is benign growth in the conjunctiva that can be easily irritated with localized redness.

Try to use preservative free lubrication more frequently and i prefer if you visit an eye doctor just to be sure of what you have.
