Hi,
I see strange red lines popping up in the corner of my left eye. What is it?. Can you help me understand what this is and if I should get it checked out?
Thanks
Answer
Thanks for your Question
This is called prominent vortex vein. This vein drains the blood from inside the eye to outside the eye and most of the time it is normal to appear like this. I would prefer to visit your eye doctor to examine the inside of the eye to make sure there are no other causes such as inflammation or infection.
There are multiple eye drops such as olopatadine hydrochloride that can be used to treat itchy red eye other than Livocab eye drops with less side effects. Livocab eye drops work on histamine (H1) receptors only while olopatadine hydrochloride works on both histamine receptors and mast cell. Mast cells release histamine so these eye drops stabilize mast cells and prevent them to release histamine.
