Full thickness cornea transplant
Question
Hi,
My husband had full thickness cornea transplant a year ago due to thermal burns. His vision improved slightly. Two weeks ago they took out the first two stitches. Now his vision is cloudy again. The eye is not red or sore.
Could this be transplant rejection?
Thanks
Answer
Thanks for your Question
Symptoms of corneal graft rejection is blurred vision with red eye, eye pain, excessive tearing and photophobia or discomfort from light exposure so your hasbund has blurred vision with any of the above symptoms then he should visit your eye doctor as soon as possible.
Sometimes after removal of corneal stitches, the surface of the cornea is reshaped which can lead to astigmatism with blurred vision. His vision will stabilize only after the removal of all stitches.
Dry eye is very common in patients with corneal graft. Try to use preservative free lubricant eye drops.
