Question

Hi,

My bf has been having weird symptoms for the past 2 years already. It started with migraine, then evolved to seeing halos and spots when looking at bright lights.

Recently, when closing his eyes, he would see spots as well.  Recently, his left eye started to hurt tremendously below the eyelid. The brain, blood and eye tests show nothing is wrong.

Thanks

Thanks for your Question

Classic Migraine is Migraine with aura in which there is a headache that comes along with sensory disturbances that is called aura. These disturbances can include blind spots, flashes of light, zigzagging lines, shimmering lights with tingling in your hand or face.

Migraine usually doesn't get worse with time so eye pain that your friend experienced recently may not be related to migraine. There are many causes of eye pain such as eye infection, uveitis, high intraocular pressure and also sinusitis.

You should visit your eye doctor just to rule out other ocular diseases that can cause eye pain with flashes of lights such as high intraocular pressure and retinal detachment.
