Question

Hello,

I'm 19 years old and month ago I started seeing flashing light in my left eye, they only appear in one eye and only in dark places, everyday for like 2-4 times.

Plus started to see floaters also like month ago. And when I move my eye in dark place when other eye is closed I see light in the same spot I see flashing light and started to feel a little pain in the eye, but I can feel its going away slowly, or sometimes in the head most of the time, but its not that bad.

I'm nearsighted, and I know I need to see a doctor, but I can't because of the quarantine in my country.
Thanks, for your help :)

Thanks

Answer

Thanks for your Question

Most of the time, eye flashes and eye floaters are caused by a benign condition called posterior vitreous detachment and there is nothing to worry about. In some cases, this flashes of light can be caused by retinal tear or hole which should be treated with laser.

The only think you can do now is to observe for any new changes such as more flashes of lights or sudden floaters and in this case you should go to the hospital.

I think even under quarantine you can go to the emergency department with the help of paramedics.
