Question

Hi,

I’m approx 10 days into having an issue with my left eyelid. Randomly one morning my left lower eyelid was tender and very slightly sore but not painful.

For almost a week there seemed to be no bump or anything, just a little redness and very slight tenderness. It also seemed to have gone away but then came back.

Now today it appears as if there’s a bump on the outside edge of my lower eyelid, the bump is kind of whitish and and almost looks like I have a pimple on the edge of my eyelid. It does not hurt or feel painful.

I’m wondering what you think this may be and how I should go about treating it.

Thank you.

Answer

Thanks for your Question

This is chalazion. Chalazion is painful in the beginning then becomes a painless bump on the eyelid within days while eye stye is painful. The best approach to treat your condition is surgical removal of it.

It is not an urgent and it can wait for few days or weeks. Meanwhile warm compress and mild sft massage over the nodule can be helpful.
