Question

Hi,

I want to have LASIK or laser surgery but I am afraid I will have permanent complications (dry eye, poor night vision) and regret it.

What should I do?

Thanks

Answer

Thanks for your Question

LASIK surgery and other refractive surgeries such as Photorefractive Keratectomy Eye Surgery (PRK) and SMILE lasik have very high success rate.

Many complications and side effects can occur after lasik surgery but most of them can be treated either medically or surgically without any effects on vision and Sight-threatening complications are extremely rare

The most important step is to choose a known skilled experienced. The second step is to know if you are a good candidate for lasik or other refractive surgeries or not. This can be done by full ocular examination and multiple diagnostic imaging tests of your eye. Patients who are not good candidate for lasik can have high risk surgery with high rate of complications.

After all the results are ready your doctor should explain to you everything regarding the surgery and if you are a good candidate for the surgery and what are the potential complications.

I always prefer to do PRK surgery (Photorefractive Keratectomy Surgery) as it has less complications than lasik surgery.
