Question

Hi,

So I have been looking at a screen for a while and this happens from time to time when the muscles in my eye contract for a long period of time focusing on something small which makes my eyes red and look bloodshot.

I was wondering what was the best way to reverse that effect. Is it better to close your eyes so that there is no input and your eye muscles can relax or is it better to stare out into the distance so that muscles are relaxed? Like which one is better?

Thanks

Answer

Thanks for your Question

Working for long hours on screen can cause computer vision syndrome or computer eye strain which can be manifested as red eye and ocular pain and to overcome this problem, first you have to check with your optometrist if you have any refractive errors that need eyeglass.

Uncorrected refractive errors cause intraocular muscle spasm and eye pain. Try to wear eyeglass with anti blue light and anti glare coat.

Dry eye can be caused by working on computer for long hours. Try to blink more frequently and use lubricant eye drops.
