Retinal detachment surgery, I think it was a vitrectomy with silicone oil insertion inside the eye.
I was given eye drops for the first few weeks after the surgical procedure. I don’t take them anymore.
I wear glasses.
Question
Hi,
I think the silicone oil in my eye has emulsified as there’s a strange liquid at the top of my eye, furthermore when looking downwards my vision becomes foggy.
I was curious as to whether this requires immediate medical attention as due to the coronavirus outbreak I’d rather stay away from the hospital. I have attached a photo of the eye.
Thank you
Answer
Thanks for your Question
You are right this is silicone oil emulsification at the top of your eye. The silicon should be removed from your eye but it is not an urgent procedure. It can wait for few weeks.
If it possible, you can call your surgeon and ask for his recommendations.
