Question

Hi,

I had submacular hemorrhage on may 23, 2020.  tPA injection with pneumatic displacement performed on May 26.  The stress of having the gas bubble in my eye is causing major difficulties. I don't know how to deal with it. Have been using antidepressants.

1. I was told to stop facing down. Is the gas bubble providing any further benefit to the condition?

2. Can the gas bubble be removed.

Thanks

Answer

Thanks for your Question

Gas bubble is very important in your condition especially during the face down position. I know it has no much benefits without face down position but doctor can't remove it surgically.

Gas disappears by itself from the eye gradually and without any surgical intervention and depending on its type, usually it takes from 2 week to 2 month.
