Question

Hi,

I believe I suffer from Bacterial Conjunctivitis.

My eyes get really itchy suddenly and turn red. Its hard to not itch. There are some sticky strings in my eye that I pull out cause they irritate my eye.

I have tried couple of antibiotic eye drops but none of them seem to work.

What should I do?

Thanks

Answer

Thanks for your Question

Most likely you have allergic conjunctivitis not bacterial conjunctivitis. You have to use lubricant eye drops and anti allergic eye drops such as patanol, olopate or whatever anti allergic eye drops that are available in your country. You can visit the pharmacy and ask for over the counter anti allergic eye drops.

Stop using antibiotics as you wont get any benefits from them. In case you didn't feel any improvement with anti allergic eye drops, you have to visit an eye doctor for further evaluation
