Question

Hi,

In May, i had an infection spread through out my body and go to both of my eyes. they were very red, burning, sharp pain, blurry, and swollen.

I also had to wipe my eyes with tissues every few minutes because of discharge. I went to an eye doctor and i was hospitalized for a week and treated with iv antibiotics and an eye ointment and it went away.

About a month later in june, i went back to my eye doctor and she saw a new bacteria in my eyes. my eyes were blurry, burning and i also couldn't even go outside or have the lights on in my house because the light hurt so bad.

It was treated with steroid eye drops for about a month and it went away. It came back again in july and also in august.

Both times i used drops for 2-3 weeks. in july and aug my eyes were just burning. Now in September, a new bacteria formed in my eyes and she was unsure what it was and put me on a steroid and antibiotic drop.

I used it for 2 weeks and it went away. about a week of being off the drops, my eyes are burning again. I'm 18 years old now but was 17 when this started.

I also have crohn's disease and have been taking chemotherapy for around 5 years, which made my immune system go really weak. but in July, i stopped it and started a new medicine for it that doesn't affect my immune system.

Is it possible that once my immunity builds back up that this will

Thanks

Thanks for your question

Low body immunity can cause recurrent attacks of infection. Once your immunity goes back to normal these recurrent attacks will stop.

Sometimes crohn's disease can be associated with red conjunctivitis which can be treated with lubrication and mild steroid eye drops.
