Hi,

I just got an eye exam for contacts because I want color contacts. Other than a slight astigmatism my eyes are fine and they just ordered "standard" contacts with no prescription since I can still wear my glasses with the contracts.

My question is, I was worried that I could hurt my eyes if I do not get the contacts from the ophthalmologist. Since I dont need a prescription for my contacts can I now just buy any "costume" contacts that may have better colors that I like without worrying about hurting my eyes?

NOTE: This is really for my daughter (14 years old)

It is illegal in USA to buy contact lenses, even colored contact lenses without prescription from optometrist.

You shouldn't buy colored contact lenses from beauty stores, salons, online stores that don't require prescription. You don't know the quality of these lenses and how they were stored. At the end, eye safety is very important and these lenses can cause eye infections.
