Thanks for your Question

It seems that you have a problem in your lacrimal gland that is responsible for the secretion of tears. There are special glands in the eyes that secret mucous. Normally you can't feel this mucous secretion because it is overcome and diluted by tears but in cases of dry eyes with no tears secretion, this mucous is built up in the eye especially during sleep as thick whitish discharge.

Keep using artificial tears and you have to use artificial tears in gel form before you sleep at night.

You have to visit an ophthalmologist to find out the causes of lacrimal gland dysfunction.
