Question

Hi,

I'm 27 yrs old and put on my very first pair of glasses ever on Monday (it's Friday today) and I have no clue what to expect or how I should feel. My reading glasses are awesome, I can actually read books without my eyes getting tired and darting around.

Now my distance/all day glasses for my distance viewing is a different story. The prescription is a +.75 which isn't that big of a script.

Does it take longer for someone who is older and has, most likely, had this near sight problems for a while to adjust? I'm on day 5 and have been constantly wearing them.

Day 1 was rough with nausea and headaches which have stopped 98%. Still little dizzy if I move my head fast or take off the glasses to clean them and then put them back on.

Night time driving they're a god sent, during the day or walking around its weird. I get the same sensation that one gets when they stare, almost a 2D feeling. Things are definitely clearer, no fish eye or slanted shapes, just 2D. I bump into things on occasion.

How long should I wait to fully adapt? 2 weeks?

Thanks

Answer

Thanks for your question

you need some time to adapt the glasses especially if you have hyperopia which is the plus power while myopia is the negative sign.

You can say around 2 weeks to adapt. If after 2 weeks you can't adjust, you have to go back to your optometrist.
