Hi,

I'm 25 year old male who started working as a welder some months ago, I had no problem with my eyesight before but after a while my vision started to get really blurry and my eyes got red.

I went to get them examined and got diagnosed with astigmatism with the right eye axis being 90 and the left 85 and i was prescribed glasses.

But my eyes still get red and dry, and sometimes drift out of focus.

Is it possible that i just have arc eye (or drink too much coffee!)  and may have been misdiagnosed and don't really need glasses ? And will my eyesight get worse if i keep using glasses ? I read that you are usually born with astigmatism so i found it weird that my vision suddenly became so bad

You didn't mention how much astigmatism you have. Working as a welder can cause sever eye dryness which manifested as red eye, burning sensation and can also cause mild astigmatism.

You have to use lubricant eye drops frequently especially during work.
