Question

Hi,

I got my first eyeglasses in August 2016  for nearsightedness and they were -1.25. I had needed them for about a year before I went in but just didn’t want the hassle.

I have since gone to a -3.75 as of May 2020.  I received an MRI and it was all clear and the optometrist says my eyes are healthy. My optometrist is concerned but my doctor isn’t. I’m looking for a second opinion on whether I should be concerned there is something more serious going on than just aging.

Thanks

Answer

Thanks for your Question

There is nothing to worry about. It is common for myopic power to change with age and without any pathological cause. The only thing to get worry is when your vision with eyeglasses is not 6/6. Your eye doctor examined you and he found nothing.
