Many patients with glaucoma ask this question. There are minimum visual standards for driving and these requirements depend mainly on visual acuity and visual field.Visual acuity for distance should be good enough to enable the patient to see car plate at 20 meters.

Visual field is also very important.Visual field is the area of space that normal people can see. In patients with glaucoma, peripheral visual field is affected first and this restrict his side vision.

Horizontal visual field is very important in which it should be clear within 120 degrees and no significant field defect or restriction in the binocular(with both eyes) field within 20 degrees of center fixation either above or below the horizontal line.
