Question

Hi,

I'm 44 yrs of age, Diabetic type 1. Have diabetic retinopathy.

Have had one of my eyes lazerd. Today I was working out in the paddock with chillies and thought something went into my eye (the eye that hasn't been lazerd).

I washed my eye with water numerous times. When I looked at it the eye white has a clear gel over the bottom half of the white.

Should I be concerned and contact my doctor.?

Thanks

Answer

Thanks for your Question

Conjunctiva is a clear gel like membrane that lies infront of the white part of the eye which is called Sclera. It was a good thing to wash your eyes directly after you felt that something went inside your eyes.

Read more about first aid after eye injuries. Chillies can cause irritation with redness to your eyes and sometimes corneal abrasion can occur.

I advice you to visit an eye doctor if you have:

1- Red Eyes.

2- Blurred vision.

3- Ocular Pain.

4- Excessive Tearing with Discharge.
