Last one month i am facing some vision problem in my right eye. That some black shade in my eye's center position. I can't see anything clear.
I feel that something is hiding to see. Yesterday i done the scanning It is showing that my retina is getting weakness & some bleeding also there.
I consulted with doctor they are suggest me to take some injection to protect further damage. The injection cost is around Rs.15K to Rs.50K.
I have to take 3 injection in next three month.
Kindly advice me.
Thanks for your Question
You didn't mention what was the diagnosis of your condition. From what i can understand, it looks like you have Wet Macular Degeneration. Abnormal blood vessels are formed in the macular area which is the area responsible for central vision. These abnormal blood vessels are called CNV (choroidal neovascular membrane).
There are Four ways of treatments:
1- Laser Photocoagulation. Can be used only for CNV away from the macula because laser scar can leave permanent scar.
2- Photodynamic Therapy or PDT. Can be used for CNV in macular area
3- Intravitreal injection of Anti-VEGF with or without Steroid. This is the most common form of treatment that is used these days. The recommended protocol is three injections followed by Fluorescein angiography and OCT to monitor the improvement.
4- Macular Surgery to remove CNV. The prognosis of this form of treatment is not that good and it can be used only for selected cases.
Another causes of Bleeding in the macular area are Diabetic Retinopathy and Retinal Vein occlusions. Most of the time, these condition can be treated with intravitreal injection of Anti-VEGF and Steroid.
