Question

Hi,

I asked something about floaters and flashes (thanks very much for the answer)and I want to ask another one thing. I want to do myopia laser this year.

I know that I will have the floaters and flashes for ever but if I do myopia laser will I still be in a high risk for retinal detachment or not anymore?

Thanks very much and sorry for the bad English.

Answer

Thanks for your Question

Peripheral laser for high myopia or progressive myopia can help to reduce the incidence of retinal detachment in high risk individuals.

Laser helps to form peripheral scar tissue which help to stabilize the peripheral retina. Also laser can be used to treat peripheral holes which are common on high myopic patient.
