Question

Hi,

I just turned 17, two weeks ago. I was born with a rare disease - unsure of the name, but it is a disease that most premature born infants are in risk to get. (my eye veins were growing abnormally)

I had an eye operation as just a few weeks old infant to stop my veins from growing dramatically in my eyes. I do not use any eye drops, but I do use special made eye lenses - 3 months use.

I have very bad nearsightedness, my right eye is -9.25 and my left is -10. Lately my eyes started burning - the skin around it, and I have excessive pain from inside my eyes.

Following I get very severe headaches, and the white of my eyes get blue and yellow spots. My eye doctor thought this was only a blue mark, from maybe hitting my eye in some way. But he won't listen to me.

He thinks it will go away. But lately I've been getting the pain and blue spots many times a month! And the burning has been permanent for almost a whole month. I have had the symptoms for about 3 months by now.

Do you know what this could be? And what I should tell my eye doctor, since he won't listen? He is sending me to an eye clinic in Denmark - The Kennedy Center for vision handicaps, in just 2 months.

Thanks

Answer

Thanks for your Question

You have something called retinopathy of prematurity. Well i would recommend that you measure your intraocular pressure because high intraocular pressure can cause severe eye pain, red eyes and headache.

Burning sensation can be caused by dry eyes.
